"Photography
is my way of expressing myself in viewing the world. Over the years of
shooting and studying the art, I find myself with a child's excitement
every time I pick up my camera. My goal as a photographer is to capture
what my clients want to get out of the session, and for everyone to have
fun in the process."
Joe's interest in fine art B&W nudes started him shooting, and his
work now covers a wide field, from shooting bands for album covers, to
child portraits, fashion, head shots, modeling agency shoots, parties,
competitions. His B&W nudes, capturing pure shape and form, can be
seen at local Los Angeles galleries and he is working towards publishing
his own book of artistic photography.
Clients
include:
Univision Records (the bands Akwid and Kalimen), Tribal Bazaar (clothing
& jewelry), Ariana's Boutique (clothing). |

Studied
with:
photographers Craig Morey and Robert Meyer. |

Ariana's
Boutique, Valley Village CA.
I shot at the store location to utilize the clothing at hand,
using 35mm and 6x7 film, two main strobes and small fill strobes
to minimize shadow for the cloths.

Ariana's
Boutique.
Clothing Store. Photos from this shoot are used in the store,
and on the store's web catalog. |
Tribal
Bazaar
Indian & Egyptian clothing and jewelry. For this shoot, I used
one 1600W main strobe and one side fill for even lighting.
|

Tribal
Bazaar, Venice Beach CA.
I shot on location at the store, once again to insure convenient
outfit changes for the model. These shots are being used for the
store and their website.
When shooting fashion, I want to turn the model into a character,
so that they may become someone else.

|

Ariana's Boutique
I use many different make-up artists, and a stylist when available.
Lighting is my own. |

With weddings, I shoot all real film for the best density and
truth of life. B&W and color. |
|
|
I have
been working with children for most of my life as a teacher, and
now as a photographer. I find it great fun to catch a child in action.
I have worked with babies, toddlers and preteen actors and models.
|

Weddings
are always a challenge to shoot and to capture the harmony
of the event. I want to see between the lines of the day to
get the golden shot. It might be a child sneaking some cake,
or the groom stealing a lone kiss in the corner from his bride.

The
one art that has always moved me is the subtle and artistic way
one sees and captures the human body. Female nudes have been in
all forms of art throughout history, and I plan to capture and publish
my own vision of this art in my book.

|

Specific use of pro B&W films, backdrops of multiple shades
and textures are hand-painted by myself, and the lighting is very
carefully chosen for each shoot.
|
|

I am currently compiling a catalog of nude B&W portraits of
mothers with their babies.
|
|
|
|
|

I have
a large catalog of head shots of adults and children for various agencies
in Los Angeles.

|

Although
seemingly simple, a lot of thought can go into getting a good head
shot. I try to bring a mood out of the person (whatever that may be)
to get the right look out of them.

Haitz
Like
the photographers of the '70's, I want to get the soul out of the
artist, for the shot.
|
|

Akwid, for Univision Records. (Album Cover)
As well as using the band's ideas, I like to take a band and help
them create a scene, with them being the props. |
