THE RIG: In this picture, you can see the two downstage vertical parbars, one of the upstage vertical bars and a few beams from the truss cans and the Mac 500's.

Though the fans went wild, they would never know how quickly this show had to be put together by the production crew (sound & lights), due to the RFH's tight schedule. Meaning that I could not even spare the time to take pictures myself. At this date, there are no full stage pictures that I have been able to acquire.

Behind Nancy, on guitar, our Egomania Records hired gun, John DePatie. [Click his name to see his bio on this website.]

...more like The Four Bottoms.

Hewn from the very living steel of pipe truss and parcan, behold, I bring you LIGHT!!!!....

THE SHOW: My operating position (the console) was on a podium which, unbeknownst to me, was minutely vibrating with the sound of the band. So here I am blazing away with my little automatic camera, which, due to the distance to the stage and the vibrations, never stood a chance...nonetheless, these various lighting "scenes" are quite apparent.

CLIENT: Anita Sarawak & American Dream.
A syrupy confection of swirling marshmallow delight: 96 x par-64 cans; 8 cyberlights, 8 ACL’s, 3 pinspots and two audience-wash units. Operated by a Jands console and Hog board.

Lost amongst the multicolored cyclorama and instrumental gear onstage is the band. At that time (1997), American Dream were performing 6 nights a week at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, with the occasional hiatus from Caesar’s to do short tours overseas.

Dunmore’s Crew on comm: two spotlight operators, one tech (including cyberlight op.), two riggers, one stagehand. Also on comm to: Sound Engineer, Stage Manager.

A moody scene whilst the vocalist moves amongst the crowd offstage. Anita would frequently bring audience members onstage, so I arranged for special stage markings, so that they would reap the benefit of specially-focused lights.

THE RIG: Black and silver par-bars shadow The Dunmore. This picture was taken in the last hour before downbeat on the first night in Malaysia, after I had spent the last four hours coordinating the rigging and focus, with the audience clamoring at the velvet ropes outside, our plane having landed just five short hours before, with me not having slept for one whole day. Aahh, how I relish that healthy lifestyle…

...and bright.

THE RIG: 84 cans for the deck, 8 cyberlights suspended from stage truss; 8 cyberlights suspended throughout arena, 8 ACLs, two audience washes, two spotlights.

Setup: Downstage truss, 4 par bars; upstage truss, 8 par bars, with two outside bars suspended vertically, four inside bars in diamond shape; downstage on deck, a vertical par bar on either corner; 8 ACLs across foot of drums. Symmetrical channel assignation in pairs.

An indication of the sweep of the arena, from lighting console to stage. The sound and light desks were situated midway to the back of the room, off to one side, line of sight obscured by thin foundation poles.

So, who do we gotta grease for BETTER SEATS???

THE SHOW: Celebrities Onstage featured celebrity lookalikes – Cookie as Tina Turner powers into her set. In this shot, we see the two repeater screens on either side of the stage, with stage fully lit and arena peopled.

Cookie again – showing a lighting scene, the fiber-optic curtain, the downstage truss.

The Four Tops Tribute slay smoothly and glow brightly, as two spotties on wide focus capture two Tops each.

Finale, with full cast.

CLIENT: Gillette / Celebrities Onstage.
Gillette throws a corporate pool party – on the 4th Floor of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Celebrities Onstage provided lookalikes to perform at this event. Here, "Elton" crocodile rocks under the 72-can lightshow, with 4 intellibeams and two spotties; two repeater screens were placed midway to the back of this open-air venue.

Chicks in leathuuuur... 'nuff said!

The fourth floor of The Venetian is an outdoor Pool Deck; you can see the upper floors of the hotel loom in the background.

Ahh, there’s nothing like Vegas to bring out the showgirl flesh in all of us. (l to r): Keith Barrows, showgirl, Tina, showgirl, Madonna, Elvis, Celine, Elton, showgirl, Dunmore, showgirl.
