Jon
has been freelance cartooning and illustrating since high school, starting
with school publications, which he produced and edited as well. Years
later, in the State Rail Authority, he published a statewide company magazine,
which featured his illustrations (as well as his photography, writing,
layout, etc.).
In the United States, Jon's Clients have ranged from Awards Makers (Awards
& More) to Dominatrixes (Diva's Dungeons). Below are a few examples
of Jon's work.
PRESSKITS:
"I specialize in BAND presskits, simply because I've been in the
music business so long, and am aware of what all those surly venue managers,
hit-hungry record execs and pony-tailed A&R stooges are looking for
in a press kit: something concise, easy to look at and with sparse text;
an advertisement that gets to the point and gets you WORKING!"

All
presskits are 8 1/2" x 11" full size.

TRADITIONAL
PAINT
"ALTONA MOTEL"
Australia
1996. Billboard design, in the country town of Uralla, midpoint
between Sydney and Queensland. The motel's wildlife attractions
featured ostriches, alpacas and exotic birds.
On an oil-painted, white base, I mixed black, red and white oil
paint to create this creature of Tibetan legend. How he got so cheeky,
I'll never know.
|

|
I
know that this ostrich beak looks like a cross between a duck's bill
and a pelican - but whadaya want from a city boy?!
Again, I only used black, white and red paint for this depiction:
the territorial Danse Le Dunmore. |

|
From
the drawing board to completion, the only thing I didn't do was actually
nail the planks together. In 2003, this billboard still stands, as
the motelier is doing a raging business, having bought the motel across
the street as well.
Of course, the hotel also has lighted marquee signs, but this unique
custom ad draws the traveler's comments.
If you ever take a drive up the New England Highway to Queensland,
you won't even have to look too hard - you'll see it. |

ELECTRONIC
PAINTS
"POFFY THE CUCUMBER"
Jon Dunmore's perennial mascot and The Guru Of Roek (don't ask me
to explain - I'm just the cartoonist).
All these examples in this segment: Drawn and inked by Dunmore;
scanned and colored in Adobe Photoshop by John Barnes.
|

|
| "Ahh,
so nice of you to join me; maybe a fine Domaine de Chevalier Rouge
1995 with some horseflesh and flava beans to start the evening?
Then some dancing at a reputable nightshade establishment..." |

"BAYOU
LOU"
Children's
book character, from ideas by Debra Yergen. Born on the bayou, alligator
Lou is an albino.
All "Bayou Lou" characters are copyrighted by Debra Yergen

|
|
"BAYOU
LILY"
Every
'gator needs his gal. Lily was inked with a heavier hand; this sped
up the coloring process, as the electric paint slopped on definitively,
rather than eating away at the edges of thin lines.
